Internal Medicine - • This Central Mississippi hospital is seeking to add an Internal Medicine physician to their medical staff. The primary service area of the hospital shows a demand for an additional primary care physician based on patient population.

  • The need to recruit an Internist can also be verified by the fact that there are several primary care physicians that are at or above retirement age. Hospital must recruit for succession planning.
  • The incoming primary care physician will most likely be recruited under a hospital employed structure. However, there is an option for a physician to establish their own private practice through a recruitment agreement if so desired.
  • Under the hospital employment structure, the incoming physician will work alongside other hospital employed primary care physicians and have two options regarding office location. The physician will have the option of practicing traditional medicine or outpatient only. If the physician prefers traditional medicine, the call rotation will be at 1:4 for weekdays/weekends.
  • The employment agreement is a three year agreement which includes an annual base salary along with a productivity model based on collections. The schedule consists of a five day work week, M-F, 8am to 5pm.
The financial package will be defined through the three year employment agreement. Physician will be provided an annual base salary and given the opportunity to increase earning potential based on productivity bonuses. The starting salary offer is scalable on experience but a typical starting point is based on the MGMA 50th percentile, which is $191K for Internal Medicine. Incentive / Bonus Program- The productivity bonus is a collections based model where the physician will receive 90% of collections generated in their office practice. Physician must first cover their own salary and office overhead expenses in order to earn production bonuses. Benefits Package- Candidates will be offered a package that includes the following benefits:
  • Malpractice is paid in full under the employment agreement along with office overhead expenses. The malpractice policy is claims made.
  • Physician is eligible to join group health insurance plan. This plan covers medical, dental and vision care plans. Physician is required to contribute a portion of the cost of the coverage.
  • CME allowance of $3,500 along with 5 days to complete CME.
  • Paid time off (PTO) is based on accrual leave in relation to years of service. 0-2 years equates to 176 annual hours; 3-4 years equates to 192 hours; 5-9 years equates to 216 annual hours and over 10 years equates to 256 annual hours of leave.
  • Long term disability is provided as a monthly benefit up to 60% of eligible earnings up to $100,000 per month in the event of disability after 150 day elimination period.
  • Life Insurance is provided to physician in an amount equal to the physicians’ annual earnings. Life insurance will be doubled in the event of an accidental death.
  • Following two months of employment, physician is eligible to participate in 401K plan. Portion of physicians contributions will be matched by employer up to 10%.
  • Provision and payment for advertising new physician in the area will be covered by hospital.
Relocation- Reimbursement of reasonable moving cost is provided up to a maximum of $10,000. Sign on Bonus- A bonus is provided to physicians in the form of a commencement bonus. Physicians will receive this bonus once they have relocated to the area, established a residence within the primary service area and began practicing full time medicine. The commencement bonus is scalable upon experience but begins at $15K. Student Loan Forgiveness- Physicians will have an opportunity for student loan forgiveness.
