Data Specialist


 

Job Summary

The Data Specialist is a full-time position that reports to the Information Services Manager. The Data Specialist position is responsible for data entry, reporting, data analysis, generating metrics, and providing documentation support to the Information Services Manager and other staff members. This position is responsible for reviewing the integrity of data, reporting, application maintenance, and supporting special projects. The Data Specialist participates in meetings with management, staff, and customers to analyze existing systems and pulls factual data to support recommendations for improved business processes to ensure maximum utilization of current and/or future data resources.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains databases by performing data entry to update foundation data tables, security roles and access, system configuration, and other system areas as needed.
  • Maintains audit and compliance controls by executing proper validation of data requests.
  • Develops and maintains data metrics and reports for consolidated accounts payable supplier (SHARE) database.
  • Assists with extracting and analyzing data for researching and developing efficiencies and making recommendations to leadership.
  • Responsible for establishing editing formatting and maintaining documentation.
  • Runs, files, and maintains forms, documents, records, and reports.
  • Performs client support for HRIS-supported system issues.
  • Ensures data integrity and quality of databases maintained.
  • Assists with HRIS system testing.
  • Assists with quarterly security reconciliation.
  • Maintains confidential information.
  • Provides backup and cross-departmental support as needed.

Required Qualifications

This position requires an Associate Degree with a concentration in Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field and three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the necessary knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
  • Skilled in reporting and data analysis.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, with strong interpersonal and collaborative work style and ability to develop effective working relationships and demonstrate commitment to being a team player.
  • Knowledgeable of accounts payable and purchasing processes.
  • Communicates efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strongly skilled in using sound judgment and discretion.
