Works under the supervision of the Charge Nurse/Registered Nurse. The Clinical Assistant performs basic patient care activities according to age appropriate and developmental needs of the patients, and clerical duties associated with preparing, compiling, and monitoring patient records according to distribution of staff and patient. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. Utilizes positive communication skills. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Performs basic patient care activities to include physical therapy and rehab services according to the age appropriate and developmental needs of the patient.


2. Enters and processes orders. Maintains patient records. Assists with admissions, discharge and transfer of patients.


3. Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to Licensed Nurse.


4. Facilitates communication for the patient care unit. Answers call lights and responds appropriately.


5. Assists when ordering and maintaining unit supplies. Orders supplies needed for patients and replenishes stock.


6. Willingness to be flexible with patient care assignments, scheduling practices, and other duties as assigned.


7. Utilizes positive communication skills to effect conflict resolution and teamwork.


8. Maintains and improves organization and operations of nursing stations.


9. Maintains a safe and clean work environment.


10. Contributes to cost effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment and supplies.


11. Complies with safety policies and procedures in order to provide a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors.


12. Actively participates in achieving departmental goals.


13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensure: State Nurse Assistant or EMT certification for staff hired after June 1998 required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards. *See unit specific certification requirements below.

Experience: One (1) year experience as a CNA or EMT with acute care employment within the last 3-5 years.

The hourly rate for this position is $27.85 - $33.86 The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.

Schedule: Part Time, Nights, 11-7a
