Job Description


We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Leader to join CloudPlat as Head of our Data Platforms team, and lead our efforts in building, expanding and improving the Data capability across all of CashApp. As the Head of Data Platform, you will be responsible for creating and driving the vision, strategy, and execution of our Data Platform body of work. You will lead an organisation of highly experienced and motivated leaders and engineers, spread across Australia and North American east and west coasts. You will work closely with cross-functional teams (product managers, customers, security, infrastructure, foundational engineering, and senior leadership) to ensure that our infrastructure offering solves CashApp engineering and business needs and scale, and we are providing a highly robust ecosystem of integrated data capabilities that will help us accelerate many use-cases across the business (such as Data Integration, Analytics and processing services, archive, tiering and streaming to name a few). This is a highly visible and impactful role leading an extremely high leverage team.

You Will

  • Define and execute the vision and strategy for the Data Platforms team
  • Lead a team of 30 and growing engineering leads and senior engineers and work closely with product managers and customers to identify and prioritise areas for improvement
  • Evangelise the importance of CashApp’s data platform and drive it’s adoption across CashApp Engineering and work to build a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Support the team in developing and implementing processes, tools, and automation to create and improve software and data engineering systems and processes, that will lead to simplified solutions with quicker time to market, and improve our data governance and compliance capability

Qualifications
  • Experience in leading geographically distributed teams
  • Track record of managing and leading high-performing engineering teams, including leading, mentoring, and coaching managers
  • Experience working in a Data Platforms group, preferably building data infrastructure capabilities and driving adoption in an engineering organisation
  • Track record in developing and defining strategy and product direction, and then work to execute it across the organisation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and internal customers
  • Obsessively customer-focused
  • Strong rapport, trust, and influence with some of Cash’s larger product engineering teams, such as Financial Services, Health, FinPlat, OS, Commerce

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $269,600 - USD $329,500
Zone B: USD $269,600 - USD $329,500
Zone C: USD $269,600 - USD $329,500
Zone D: USD $269,600 - USD $329,500
